Gandhinagar, Jan 10 (IANS) The two-day Vibrant Gujarat global investors’ conclave that starts here Wednesday will see a strong delegation from Canada, a partner country this year, especially in areas like automobile, energy, clean technology and finance.

‘As a partner country at Vibrant Gujarat, Canada will showcase its commercial strengths in India, promote Canada as an investment destination of choice and provide a platform for Canadian businesses to engage with their Indian counterparts,’ said a statement.

The country’s participation follows the India visit of Canada’s Trade Minister Peter Van Loan in November last year for negotiating a bilateral economic partnership agreement with India , that is seen boost two-way trade to $15 billion in five years.

‘Canada is an innovative and business friendly country. Our participation at Vibrant Gujarat highlights Canada’s strengths and showcases the natural synergies and economies of scale that Indian and Canadian business share,’ High Commissioner Stewart Beck said.

Among the initiatives highlighting Canada’s participation will be seminars on investing in Canada on Jan 12 -13 featuring Elizabeth McDonald and Craig Crawford, considered to be the country’s top investers, focused on the automotive and clean technology sectors.

McDonald and Crawford will give delegates an overview of the investment opportunities in Canada, as well as the benefits for Indian investors. Also speaking at the seminars are members of parliament Patrick Brown and Devinder Shory and Senator Michael MacDonald.

In addition, Canada will greet participants at its Pavilion at Vibrant Gujarat’s nine-day ‘Mega Exhibition’ that started Jan 10 and conduct seminars focussed on key sectors relevant to India and Canada.
