Shimla, Nov 15 (Inditop.com) The allotment of flats and plots of the Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority (HIMUDA) in Shimla has been stayed on the orders of a consumer court, an official said Sunday.

“The allotment of HIMUDA’s houses and plots in Shimla has come to a standstill on the directions of the Himachal Pradesh State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission,” HIMUDA’s vice-chairman Ganesh Dutt told Inditop.

He said the commission, acting on the petition of the Progressive Housing Society, has directed HIMUDA to stay the allotment of any type of plots and flats till the disposal of the case.

The Progressive Housing Society had moved the consumer commission over the delay in permission for developing a chunk of land for some housing project in the town.

“We will now separately file application with the commission for the modification of the orders,” said Dutt.

The draw of lots of flats in various areas of Shimla Nov 20 has been postponed.

Hundreds of applicants across the country have applied for various categories of flats in the town.

HIMUDA, constituted in 2004, is developing land and creating infrastructure to meet with the housing needs of different income groups at various places in the state.
