Uluberia (West Bengal), April 29 (Inditop) Holding West Bengal’s ruling Left Front major Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) responsible for the Tatas pulling out the Nano plant from the state, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani Wednesday said peasants should not be ignored for carrying out industrial activities.
Comparing the situation in West Bengal with Gjarat’s Sanand where Tata motors is now setting up the small car plant, Advani said: “There is no problem in my Gujarat. Not a single peasant is unhappy. All the peasants are supporting the project. They said if Nano comes it will be a good thing.”
“Alongside industrialsation, peasants should not be ignored. If you ignore peasants you lose out… What happened in Singur occurred due to the wrong policies of the Marxist party,” Advani said while campaigning for his party nominee Rahul Chakraborty in this constituency of Howrah district.
Rapping the communists for having opposed computerisation in West Bengal in the past, he said: “Because of this, the southern states went ahead in computerisation and your state fell behind.”
Referring to the Ayodhya issue, Advani attacked the centre’s Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, saying it had given an affidavit saying Ram did not exist.
He hoped one day a “proper” Ram Temple would come up in Ayodhya.
