New Delhi, July 9 (Inditop.com) Air traffic congestion at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here will end once the new terminal T3 becomes operational by April 2010, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said Thursday.
“I do concede there there is a problem. But there is always scope for improvement. The airport is undergoing major expansion,” Patel told parliament.
Passengers have been complaining that after landing aircraft take a long time to reach their terminals. Take-off is also getting delayed due to air traffic congestion.
“It is just a matter of time. The problem will be solved once the T3 terminal comes into operation,” Patel said.
“You will have domestic and international operations from the upcoming T3 terminal. Many aircraft could be parked there at the same time,” he added.
Of the total Rs.9,000 crore earmarked for upgrading the airport, Rs.5,500 crore has been spent, the minister said.
