New Delhi, Aug 15 (IANS) Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Sunday said that with generation of 1,500 MW from a gas-based power station at Bawana and the 108 MW plant at Rithala about to produce electricity, Delhi will soon become a power-surplus state.
Speaking after hoisting the flag here on the country’s 64th Independence Day, she said Delhi will also get 750 MW power from Jhajjar in Haryana.
Dikshit also said that all the old Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses will be replaced by the new low-floor AC and non-AC ones to provide a fast, secure and comfortable public transport system in the city.
The city will soon have equitable distribution of water in all its areas.
She noted that the government is committed to bring all-round development of schoolchildren, whose number in state-run schools this year increased by over 100,000.
The chief minister also said the government has chalked out a comprehensive plan for skill development in Delhi and to make it a knowledge hub.
