New Delhi, Nov 3 (IANS) The department of telecom (DoT) Wednesday extended the deadline for re-verification of mobile subscribers by service providers to Dec 31 after consultation with security agencies.
‘During this process the service providers can correct their subscribers records wherever they find that the documents collected from the customers earlier are inappropriate or missing,’ the DoT said in a statement.
The earlier deadline for completing the re-verification expired Oct 31.
The service providers had approached DOT in October for an extension requesting that the creation of infrastructure for re-verification has taken some time and as the process is now in full swing they needed some more time.
The operators have been asked to provide details to the telecom enforcement, resource and monitoring (TERM) cells of DoT in the licensed service areas on monthly basis about the re-verified customers and also provide on-line access to the scanned customer acquisition forms.
