Lucknow, Jan 22 (Inditop.com) A thick blanket of fog enveloped this Uttar Pradesh capital and most parts of the state Friday, throwing normal life out of gear and affecting movement of trains.
“Uttar Pradesh will remain in the grip of foggy conditions and icy winds at least for two-three days,” state Met Director J.P. Gupta told Inditop.
“In coming days, the east and the central parts of Uttar Pradesh will witness more fog than other regions in the state,” he added.
Dense fog affected the movement of a number of trains.
According to officials here at the Charbagh railway station, a number of trains, including the Delhi-Lucknow Swarna Shatabdi Express and Delhi-Lucknow Gomti Express, that were to leave from the state capital were cancelled due to fog.
Moreover, fog delayed the arrival of several trains at Charbagh railway station by 3-12 hours.
Dense fog also disrupted the movement of vehicles at various places in the city where traffic moved at a snail’s pace.
Bijnor, some 400 km from Lucknow, remained the coldest in the state Friday with a minimum temperature of 3.8 degrees Celsius. Lucknow recorded a minimum temperature of 8 degrees Celsius.
