New Delhi, Sep 25 (Inditop.com) The state-owned Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) is unlikely to hike prices of its products because of softening demand in international markets.
“International steel prices are cooling off, especially in China,” said SAIL chairman S.K. Roongta here Friday.
Indicating that his company was unlikely to raise prices from next month as was widely speculated, Roongta said: “There is no upsurge in prices.”
SAIL had hiked prices of its products such as flat steel by Rs.1,000 a tonne last month, and raised it again by Rs.1,500 a tonne following growth in demand in international markets.
Currently, prices — depending on the product — range between Rs.30,000 and Rs.40,000 per tonne in the domestic market.
