New Delhi, Dec 9 (Inditop.com) The hearing on the high-profile Krishna-Godavari gas dispute between Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) and Reliance Natural Resources Ltd (RNRL) was cancelled Wednesday, as Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan was indisposed.

“We will let you know later when the hearing will resume,” a senior official in the apex court’s registrar’s office said, confirming that the hearing on the gas dispute had been called off for the day.

A three-member bench of the apex court, which includes Justice B. Sudershan Reddy and Justice P. Sathasivam, has been hearing the dispute over the supply of 28 million units of gas for 17 years at $2.34 per unit to RNRL from the gas fields awarded to RIL.

The price, tenure and quantity were based on a pact in the Ambani family entered in 2005 but Mukesh Ambani-led RIL later said it will only sell gas for $4.20 per unit to younger brother Anil Ambani’s RNRL, claiming this was the consideration fixed by the government.

The Bombay High Court had earlier ruled in RNRL’s favour.

The chief justice of India was admitted to the Apollo hospital here Tuesday night.
