New Delhi, Oct 22 (Inditop.com) More than 220 companies from around the world are expected to take part in next week’s international exhibition on homeland security and fire technology here.

The third annual show of IFSEC India — International Fire and Security Exhibition and Conference, India — will be held Oct 29-30 concurrently with two other exhibitions, Internal Security 2009 and Firex India 2009.

According to an IFSEC press release, the US department of commerce has certified IFSEC India, which will have the largest contingent of foreign presence at the American pavilion with 24 companies.

Anil Gupta, who heads the homeland security committee at American Chamber of Commerce, told reporters there has been an enormous change in mood in India after the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. “We are seeing a new urgency and faster movement now.”

Gupta said the private sector was working towards catering to the needs of the government. “We have been speaking to the ministry officials, who have told us that there are priority areas like coastal security, border, counter-insurgency, infrastructure safety and safe city programmes,” he said.
