Chennai, Sep 29 (IANS) Public sector Indian Bank is all set to open a branch in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, in the next two months, said a top bank official.

‘Regulatory clearances for setting up a branch in Jaffna has been obtained and in two months time the branch will be set up,’ Chairman and Managing Director T.M. Bhasin told reporters here Wednesday.

After Jaffna, the bank will open a branch in Kandy.

Bhasin said there are plans to open a branch in Hong Kong in the next fiscal and a representative office in Jakarta.

Earlier, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi with a click of the button inaugurated 21 branches and 31 automatic teller machines (ATM) spread across 11 states and two union territories online from the state secretariat here.

The bank currently has 1,796 branches and 1,062 ATMs.
