Mumbai, Jan 8 (IANS) State-run gas utility company Indraprastha Gas Ltd Saturday reported a 14 percent increase in its net profit for the third quarter of the current fiscal, which stood at Rs.671.916 million as against Rs.589.322 million in the like period of 2009.

‘Company has posted a net profit after tax of Rs.671.916 million for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2010 as compared to Rs.589.322 million for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2009,’ the company said in a regulatory filing.

The total income of the company increased by 57.90 percent for the third quarter, which stood at Rs.457.76 crore as compared to Rs.289.90 crore for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2009.

The company is the sole supplier of compressed natural and cooking gas used for mass transport system and households in the capital.

Recently, IGL raised retail prices on CNG by Rs.1.25 per kg.
