New Delhi, Nov 16 (Inditop.com) The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Monday announced the formation of an 11-member committee for timely implementation of the Delhi Master Plan 2021, which includes wide-scale redevelopment projects in the national capital.
The committee, headed by Ved Prakash Gupta, the deputy leader of the MCD house, will include leader of house Subhash Arya, standing committee chairperson R.K.Singhal, former standing committee chairman Vijender Gupta, leader of opposition J.K. Sharma, as well as other municipal councillors.
According to Ved Prakash Gupta, the committee has been set up for effective implementation of the master plan’s recommendations.
“The committee can be contacted for any kind of problem in implementation. We will work to redress the problem by taking up the issue with officials concerned and will also bring it to the notice of Master Plan-2021 Committee,” he said.
“Lots needs to be done. Projects like the special area redevelopment plan in the walled city still lag far behind the target,” Vijender Gupta told Inditop.
He added that the commitee would have its first meeting soon, where a decesion would be taken to have regular review meetings as well.
The 2021 master plan aims at making Delhi “a global metropolis and a world-class city”. The plan hopes to address challenges of population growth and immigration into Delhi, and provide adequate housing, deal with the issue of slums, upgradation of old and dilapidated areas of the city; provision of infrastructure services; conservation of the environment, preservation of Delhi’s heritage and blending it with new and complex modern development projects.
