Mumbai, June 23 (IANS) A benchmark index for Indian equities, the sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), on Tuesday opened slightly lower compared to the previous close and was trading at 27,785.94 points some 25 minutes after the opening bell.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), which opened at 8,360 points hit a bottom of 8,338.15 shortly after trading commenced, but soon scaled higher to 8,274.70 points, with a gain of 24.20 points or 0.29 percent.
The 30-share Sensex, which opened at 27,756.15 points against the previous close at 27,765.06 points fell to 27,670.79 points. However, it recovered and at 9.40 a.m. it was ruling at 27,785.94 points, with a gain of 55.73 points, or 0.20 percent.
