Mumbai, May 10 (Inditop.com) The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Monday demonstrated at a senior Provident Fund official’s office here to oppose the recruitment of non-Marathi speaking employees.
More than 200 activists shouted slogans in Bandra saying such recruitment was not in the interest of ‘Marathi manoos’.
“More then 90 percent of the clerical staff appointed for the Mumbai office is non-Marathi. This is not acceptable,” said MNS spokesperson Shirish Parkar, who led the demonstration.
A few activists met the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner P.M. Mathew and asked him the reasons for recruiting non-Marathi employees.
“He told us there is no law that says these staffers need to know the local language,” Parkar said.
Parkar said furious activists threw files and documents on Mathew’s face and abused him. “He should know the consequences of making such statements.”
“We have asked him to do the needful to change the rule for recruiting Marathi-speaking people in the Mumbai office. He has told us he will write to the head office in Delhi,” Parkar said.
