Raipur, July 13 (IANS) NMDC Ltd, India’s largest iron ore miner, Tuesday restored production to its full capacity from its key mining facility in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district, a day after Maoists opened fire at the the complex, an official said.

‘The attack by Maoists disrupted the night shift mining work Monday at deposit No.5 and production of some 20,000 tonnes iron ore was lost but work resumed normally from Tuesday,’ a senior NMDC official told IANS.

Armed Maoists had Monday night opened fire Monday night at the NMDC mining complex in Dantewada and set a vehicle on fire. The Central Industrial Security (CISF) personnel deployed at the site retaliated and the rebels fled.
