Chandigarh, April 9 (Inditop.com) More than three lakh consumers in Haryana had their electricity connections cut permanently or temporarily in the last financial year for not paying their bills in time, officials said here Friday.

They said at least 308,638 consumers in north Haryana lost their power connections after the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) cut supply.

A penalty of Rs.208 crore was imposed on the defaulting consumers, of which the UHBVN had recovered over Rs.105 crore.

A UHBVN spokesman said 19,553 cases of power theft were also detected during the year.
