New Delhi, July 1 (IANS) Describing cyber-related risks as a global threat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday called upon India’s IT community to serve the entire world by building credible cyber-security systems.
“I dream of a digital India where high-speed digital highways unite the nation. 1.2 billion connected Indians drive innovation,” Modi said here launching the Digital India initiative.
“Technology ensures the citizen-government interface is incorruptible,” he added.
In this regard, the prime minister said that India could play a major role in the mission of ushering peace in the world.
“It is important to secure the world. Can India play the lead role in it,” he asked.
“We have to accept the challenge. It will bring peace to humankind,” he added.
He also said while India had been earlier criticised for launching satellites, it was now recognised that these help farmers, for instance through accurate weather forecasting.
