New Delhi, July 1 (IANS) With the monsoon missing its date with the national capital, the power demand in Delhi Thursday surged to the year’s highest at 4,720 MW.

‘Delhi’s peak power demand Thursday was 4,720 MW, its highest, breaking the previous high of 4,668 MW on June 21,’ said an official of the private power discom BSES.

The highest power demand last year was 4,408 MW on July 8.

Delhiites continued to suffer a hot and muggy day. The maximum and minimum temperatures Thursday were two notches above average.

While the maximum was at 38.9 degrees Celsius, the minimum was 30.1 degrees.

On Friday, the maximum temperature is expected to be 41 degrees Celsius and minimum 31 degrees, the Met office said.
