Chandigarh, June 23 (IANS) Consumers in Haryana will get power at cheaper rates from next month as the state’s two power distribution agencies Wednesday announced reduction in fuel surcharge rates.
Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) Managing Director Arun Kumar said the revision in fuel surcharge rates will benefit nearly 45 lakh consumers in the state.
Kumar said domestic category consumers would get a relief ranging from four paise to 13 paise per unit depending upon the consumption of electricity units.
The first 40 units of electricity consumed by a consumer will be charged at a rate of 15 paise per unit instead of 19 paise per unit. The consumers with electricity use of 41-300 units will have to pay 29 paise instead of 39 paise per unit. More than 300 units will be charged at a rate of 37 paise per unit instead of existing 50 paise per unit.
The fuel surcharge on non-domestic supply will be 31 paise per unit instead of the current 49 paise per unit.
High tension industrial consumers, street lighting supply and bulk supply category consumers will have to pay 31 paise per unit instead of existing 48 paise per unit. Low tension industrial consumers will pay 32 paisa per unit instead of 50 paisa per unit.
The rates have been revised for certain other categories also.
He said that the bills of electricity supplied to consumers in the month of July will be sent in August and September as per monthly or bi-monthly schedule and the consumers would see the effect of revised fuel surcharge in those bills.
