Kolkata, May 10 (Inditop.com) The Reserve bank of India (RBI) will come out with a report on food inflation in a few weeks time, deputy governor of the central bank Subir Gokarn said Monday.
“The paper would study whether the food price rise is due to less monsoon last year or it is due to the impact of a structural change in the people’s food habits,” Gokarn told reporters here.
He said the rise in excessive demand for sugar, milk and pulses indicated a shift in the nutritional choices of the people.
According to government data, India’s annual food inflation hovered around 16.04 percent for the week ended April 24.
