Mumbai, Dec 16 (IANS) A benchmark index of Indian equities market Thursday closed 204 points higher with late buying pushing up the index.
The 30-share sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 19,698.58 points, closed at 19,852.11 points (provisional) – up 204.34 points or 1.04 percent from its previous close of 19,647.77 points.
At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the 50-share S&P CNX Nifty ended 0.85 percent higher at 5,942.2 points.
Broader markets also nudged higher, with the BSE midcap index closing 0.33 percent up and the BSE smallcap index ending 0.53 percent higher.
