Mumbai, Dec 8 (Inditop.com) A key index of Indian equities Tuesday ended trade near its intra-day high, 1.2 percent higher than the previous close.

The sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) that opened at 16,984.54 points closed at 17,234.26 points (provisional), up 251.12 points or 1.2 percent from Monday’s closing at 16,983.14 points.

At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty shut shop at 5,149.15 points, against the previous close at 5,066.7 points, a gain of 82.45 points or 1.63 percent.

Gains were seen across markets with BSE midcap index closing 1.31 percent up and the BSE small cap index 1.41 percent higher.
