Mumbai, Aug 1 (IANS) Indian automobile giant Tata Motors Monday reported cumulative sales of 63,761 vehicles in July, down six percent from the like period of last year.
‘The company’s domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for July 2011 were 57,990, lower by 9 percent over 63,559 units sold in July last year,’ the company said in a statement.
Cumulative sales for the fiscal grew by four percent at 256,799 units, over 247,381 units sold in the like period of last year.
Segment-wise, the company reported a 14 percent growth in sales of its commercial vehicles at 40,798 units as against 35,694 units sold in July last year.
‘LCV (light commercial vehicle) sales were 24,962, a growth of 22 percent over July last year,’ it added.
The passenger-vehicles segment sales, including distribution offtake of Fiat cars, were lower by 39 percent at 18,294 units (17,192 Tata, 1,102 Fiat) as compared to 30,166 vehicles (27,865 Tata, 2,301 Fiat) in July last year.
‘Sales of Tata passenger vehicles for July 2011 are at 17,192, lower by 38 percent over July last year,’ the statement said.
Sales of the company’s entry-level car Nano were down 64 percent at 3,260 units in July 2011.
Exports-wise, the company’s sales grew by 36 percent at 5,771 vehicles in July, compared to 4,241 vehicles in the corresponding month of 2010.
The cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal at 20,657 units were higher by 25 percent over 16,484 vehicles in the like period last year, the statement said.
