Mumbai, April 28 (Inditop) Liquor manufacturer United Spirits, a part of the Vijay Mallya-controlled United Breweries, Tuesday said its net profit dropped 14.5 percent to Rs.556.2 million for the quarter ended March 31 as compared to Rs.651.1 million in the same period the previous year.

The company’s total income, however, increased 18.45 percent to Rs.9.18 billion in the last quarter of 2008-09 from Rs.7.75 billion the previous fiscal.

For the fiscal ended March 31, United Spirits posted a net profit of Rs.2.97 billion, a decrease of 4.51 percent compared to Rs.3.11 billion in the year-ago period.

Total income increased 21.24 percent from Rs.32.2 billion in 2007-08 to Rs.39.04 billion in the year under review.
