Chandigarh, Sep 28 (IANS) Venus Remedies has won a contract worth over Rs.100 million to supply its anti-cancer drug to the government of Thailand, a company spokesperson said here Tuesday.
The drug, Docetaxel, will be supplied to the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) under Thailand’s ministry of health. The contract has been awarded through the scheme of Compulsory License issued by the GPO.
The GPO, after importing the drug, would make it available amongst poor who cannot afford high cost anti-cancer drugs.
‘The contract is valid for one year and is expected to generate a business of more than Rs.100 million to the company,’ said Venus Remedies Chairman and Managing Director Pawan Chaudhary.
‘We have tied up with a local pharmaceutical group for marketing and distribution of the product in the entire Thai market. The supply of this product will begin by November 2010,’ he said.
