Kolkata, June 3 (IANS) Refractory supplier Vesuvius India Ltd is planning to commission its Kolkata project by December which will double its plant capacity, top company officials said Thursday.
The expansion plan of the Kolkata plant, conceived in 2004, got delayed due to slump in steel industry.
The company now has the capacity to produce 526,000 pieces and 96,500 tonnes of refractories per year. It supplies steel makers like JSW Ltd, Steel Authority of India Ltd, Essar Steel and Rastriya Ispat Nigam Ltd for their expansion projects, the company’s managing director Tanmay Kumar Ganguly said.
‘There is enough cash surplus in the company and the investment required for our expansion project will come internally,’ company chairman S.K. Gupta said while addressing the shareholders at the annual general meeting of the company.
Vesuvius is investing Rs.50 crore in the Kolkata project, which now produces 400 pieces per day.
