Sharjah, June 25 (IANS/WAM) ‘Trendy Workshops’ in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will soon guide women entrepreneurs in the Gulf region work on a diverse range of products related to the food and beverage industry.

The Sharjah Business Women Council (SBWC), with help from the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sharjah Ladies Club, has launched the ‘Trendy Workshops’ to help out Emirati women on potential industry sectors.

The first of the workshops provided participants with guidance on planning, running and developing small and medium businesses including catering, fine dining restaurants, cafes, cake and chocolate parlours.

The SBWC will facilitate the workshops and lend expertise to graduates and women entrepreneurs on basic elements of business plan development and operations.

‘Generally people think all it takes to open a food and beverage outlet is a chef and an interior designer. However, it is the initial expense that drains their budget before they even start. We aim to provide young women entrepreneurs with the right kind of knowledge to penetrate the sector,’ Daniel During, managing partner of one of the organisers, Thomas Klein International, said.

At the end of the workshop, and in recognition of her innovation and successful enterprise, Mai Faisal Al Qassimi, founder-owner of ‘Sugar Box’, was awarded the first ‘Trendy Star’.
