Thiruvananthapuram, April 9 (Inditop.com) Fearing a polygraph test on the events related to the bomb that was found on the Bangalore-Thiruvananthapuram Kingfisher flight last month, a former airline employee committed suicide here Friday morning.
The victim committed suicide even though the prime culprit in the case is in custody.
Sunil, 26, who lives near the airport here was found hanging at his home, following media reports that the police were planning to subject employees to a lie detector test in order to identify more people involved in the crime.
The explosive device was found in the cargo section of the Kingfisher plane after it landed here March 21. The flight had 27 passengers and four crew members.
After the passengers and the crew deplaned, a routine security check of the aircraft led to the detection of the bomb which was wrapped in a school question paper and a Malayalam newspaper.
Incidentally Sunil who worked as a casual employee in the cargo section of the airline was one of the three who was picked up by the Bangalore police a few days after the incident.
The immediate provocation for Sunil to take his life was that a lie detector test would be done on a few people who had been questioned before.
In his suicide note, however, Sunil gave a clean chit to the police officers who had questioned him.
The locals who had gathered at Sunil’s home, however, were not willing to buy this theory and were in an agitated mood. They blamed the police for Sunil’s death.
They also said that Sunil was in a depressed mood after the police questioned him. He was told by officials that he would not be able to leave the city till the case was closed.
The police had questioned several people who work at the airport, including officials of Kingfisher airlines, and those who work in the cargo section.
The police have, however, ruled out any terrorist related operations and have said that it was personal enmity between employees of private firms that operate inside the airport.
