Noida, April 12 (Inditop.com) A man accused in nearly a dozen heinous crimes across Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi and carrying a reward of Rs.50,000 on his head was killed in a shootout with Noida police early Monday, police said.
Farooque alias Langra, a resident of Meerut, was gunned down near Mahamaya flyover under Sector 39 police station here, police said.
The incident took place when police asked a Zen car, carrying three people, to stop for checking. The occupants, instead of complying with police instructions, started firing, police said.
The police team retaliated in which one of the car occupants sustained a gunshot injury while his accomplices abandoned the car and fled. After five minutes of the shootout, police rushed the injured criminal to a government hospital where he was declared dead, they said.
On the basis of papers found in his pocket, he was identified as Farooque, son of Nasiruddin, a resident of Lakhipura under Lisari Gate police station. About a dozen cases of heinous crimes were found registered against him in different police stations of Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Panipat and Delhi, police said.
Haryana had declared a reward of Rs.50,000 on his head as he was wanted by Panipat police.
The Zen car – bearing registration number UP-92 C 5055, a 9mm pistol, a rifle and a knife were recovered from the spot, said police.
