Lucknow, Aug 21 (Inditop.com) A man wanted for over two dozen crimes, including murder and kidnapping, was killed in an by the police in Uttar Pradesh Friday.
Anil alias Punjabi, who had escaped from police custody a month ago and carried a reward of Rs.10,000 on his head, was shot dead in Bulandshahr district.
“We received information about Punjabi’s movement in the jungles adjoining Barmatpur railway station in the wee hours today following which, the police and the Special Operations Group (SOG) laid a trap,” inspector Dalchand of Gulawati police station told IANS on phone.
The cops tried to intercept Punjabi, who was on a motorcycle with his aide, but he opened fire on the police party, he added.
“While Punjabi was killed in the crossfire, his aide managed to escape. We have recovered a .9mm pistol and some live cartridges from the spot and a hunt is on to nab the other criminal,” Dalchand said.
