Bhubaneswar, Aug 11 (Inditop.com) An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale with its epicentre near the Andaman Islands early Tuesday jolted the Orissa capital and the adjoining areas, the Bhubaneswar meteorological centre here said.
The earthquake occurred at 1.26 a.m. Its epicenter was located at latitude 14.10 North and longitude 93.00 East in Andaman Islands, about 1,020 km southeast of Bhubaneswar, according to a preliminary earthquake report released by the centre here.
“The earthquake was felt at Bhubaneswar and nearby areas,” the report said.
