Lucknow, Dec 29 (Inditop.com) Five drug-peddlers, including a woman, were Tuesday arrested with morphine worth Rs.48 million (Rs.4.80 crore) in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district, police said Tuesday.

The five people were nabbed from Chandauli village in Barabanki, some 35 km from Lucknow.

“Acting on a tip-off, we nabbed the drug peddlers in an operation jointly launched with the special operation group (SOG) sleuths,” police inspector Bimal Kumar told reporters in Barabanki.

“While two drug-peddlers, including the woman, are from Ambala district in Haryana, the others are natives of Lucknow,” he added.

According to another police officer, all the five have admitted that they have been supplying drugs in regions of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Delhi for nearly five years.

“We are interrogating those arrested to know about their links or clients in Uttar Pradesh and other states,” said Kumar.
