New Delhi, Oct 27 (Inditop.com) A city court Tuesday sent a 34-year-old PhD scholar of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, held for the murder of a Manipuri teenager, to 14 days judicial custody.

Metropolitan Magistrate Saurabh Singh sent Pushpum Sinha to 14 days judicial custody for allegedly killing his 19-year-old neighbour, Ramchanphy Hongray.

According to Police, Sinha is suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder and produced some medical reports in the court to substantiate the same.

Sinha, who is unmarried, was arrested late Monday after four hours of intense questioning by police. According to the police, he has confessed to strangling Hongray in her Munirka home in south Delhi. He then burnt the girl’s face to mislead the police into thinking that she died in an accidental fire.

Earlier, the police, too, thought it was a case of accidental death. However, the post-mortem examination revealed that she did not die of burns but had been strangulated.
