Narwana (Haryana), July 25 (Inditop.com) Four people including the father-in-law of the 21-year-old man who was lynched earlier this week by a mob in a Haryana village were arrested Saturday, officials said.
“Police have arrested four people for lynching Ved Pal including his father-in-law and three neighbours of the girl’s family. We suspect four-five more people were involved and police are raiding their possible hideouts. They could be arrested by tomorrow morning,” Mohammad Shayin, deputy commissioner of Jind, told IANS.
He added: “Ample police force is deployed in the girl’s village to avoid any untoward incident. Sensing a threat to the girl’s life we have provided her a foolproof security cover.”
According to police officials, those arrested are Ved Pal’s father-in-law Dhanraj Singh, Mewa Singh, Shamsher Singh and Mahender Singh.
Ved Pal was Wednesday night lynched by residents of his wife’s village, Singhwal, near this town of Haryana’s Jind district, 160 km from Chandigarh.
He had gone to the village to bring back his wife Sonia. The young couple had got married in March this year.
However, Sonia Friday told Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Hukum Singh that Ved Pal had tricked her into eloping with him and duped her into marrying him.
