Aizawl, July 31 (Inditop.com) A huge cache of arms, including eight US-made M-16 rifles, have been seized from the rented house of a Myanmarese national in this Mizoram capital, police said Friday.
The weapons were recovered from a house rented by a man identified as Lalnempuii, on the outskirts of Aizawl, late Thursday, a police spokesperson said.
The official added that Lalnempuii was not present at her house during the raid.
“She has been residing in her native Tahan village in Myanmar since May, although she took the house on rent,” he said.
The seized arms include eight US-made M-16 rifles, one .9 mm Beretta pistol, one telescope, 12 sets of Chinese-made walkie talkies and a large number of bullets.
“The weapons were brought to Mizoram from Myanmar and were suspected to have been ordered by Dimasa rebels in the adjoining state of Assam,” the official said.
