Lucknow, July 8 (Inditop.com) Police have busted a spurious liquor manufacturing unit that was operating from a school in a town in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur district and recovered 560,000 litres of illicit liquor, officials said Wednesday.
“Huge stock of spurious liquor was recovered during the raids conducted late Tuesday at the Siddharth Convent School in Chaksadar town in Ghazipur,” police inspector D.P. Singh told IANS over telephone.
Police have arrested the owner of the school, Ram Kumar, who has confessed that he along with other officials used to supply spurious liquor in parts of Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring states.
“Kumar primarily used to take orders for manufacturing liquor from his clients in eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar,” Singh said.
“On the basis of the information given by Kumar, we will soon arrest other school officials involved in running the illegal liquor manufacturing unit,” he added.
Ghazipur is about 280 km from Lucknow.
