Bhubaneswar, Aug 21 (Inditop.com) An earthquake of low intensity jolted Balasore district of Orissa and lasted for a few seconds, the meteorological office said here Friday.
The tremor was felt in several villages and towns in coastal Balasore at about 4.10 p.m. Thursday. However, there was no report of any injury or damage.
“An earthquake of light intensity having its magnitude 2.9 on the Richter scale occurred at 16 hours 10 minutes with its epicentre at latitude 21.30 North and longitude 86.70 East in Balasore district,” Bhubaneswar meteorological office said in a statement.
The district headquarter of Balasore is 214 km from state capital Bhubaneswar.
