Guwahati, Oct 27 (Inditop.com) An irate mob attacked paramilitary troopers inside a train in Assam’s Kokrajhar district after a woman passenger accused them of molesting her. Police fired on the crowd, injuring one person.

The angry mob stopped the New Delhi bound Brahmaputra Mail at the Fakiragram Railway Station in Kokrajhar district, about 270 km west of Assam’s main city of Guwahati.

“About 500 people gathered at the station and some of them entered the compartment and began assaulting the security personnel. We had to open fire to disperse the crowd, in which one person was injured,” a police official said.

According to the police, a woman passenger in the compartment raised an alarm accusing a group of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel of molesting her inside the running train.

“When the train reached Fakiragram, some of the passengers got down and raised a hue and cry and soon locals from the area joined them resulting in the trouble,” the official said.

Police detained at least six CRPF personnel for questioning before the train was allowed to leave Fakiragram after about three hours.
