New Delhi, July 15 (Inditop.com) Manoj Bakarwara, who was wanted in over 100 cases of car thefts and had twice escaped police custody, has been arrested in the capital, Delhi Police Commissioner Y.S. Dadwal said here Wednesday.

Bakarwara, 34, was arrested Tuesday from southwest Delhi’s Najafgarh area following the arrest of his three accomplices – Punjab police constable Sarwan Singh, Prabhsharan Singh and Gurcharan Preet Singh – three days ago from the Zirakpur-Rajpura Road in Punjab.

“He is the most wanted super car jacker and is wanted by the police in Delhi, Chandigarh and Haryana. A reward had been declared by the Delhi and Haryana police for his arrest. Arms and ammunition have been recovered from their possession. A Ford Endeavour SUV and Honda City sedan have also been seized,” Dadwal said.

“Bakarwara in his interrogation said he has stolen and robbed around 500 cars in last 11 years. He is an expert in driving cars and prefers to commit the crime late at night or early in the morning, preferably on wide roads having no traffic signals so that after committing the crime he could easily escape,” Dadwal said.

The police commissioner said Bakarwara is fond of a lavish lifestyle and prefers staying in expensive hotels in different cities of various states like Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan to avoid arrest.
