Lucknow, June 26 (Inditop.com) Some residents of Uttar Pradesh’s Naini town Friday turned violent and tried to set fire to two police jeeps after three members of a family were found dead, police said.

Bablu, Mangesh and Pappu, all in their 30s, were found dead with injury marks all over their bodies Friday in the Naini town of Allahabad district, 200 km from state capital Lucknow.

“They have been killed by a sharp-edged weapon,” district police chief Chandra Prakash told reporters.

He said the locals, agitated over the murders, came out in large numbers and protested, targeting private and public vehicles in the district.

“They also tried to set afire two police jeeps. Due to timely intervention by the security personnel they could not succeed. Following the rampant protests, additional security force has been deployed in the town and nearby areas,” Prakash said.

He said the exact reason behind the killings is yet to be ascertained. However, locals said the three men were having a land dispute with some neighbours, who could be behind the incident.
