New Delhi, April 29 (IANS) Two girl students of the Jamia Millia Islamia were awarded scholarships worth Rs.25,000 per year for their academic performance, a varsity official said Friday.

Uzma Yousuf, a Master’s student of international business, and Naheed Tabassum pursuing Master’s in biotechnology, were given the scholarships.

‘Yousuf was the topper of the bachelor of social work course at Jamia and has secured the highest marks in the university for the last five years. Tabassum secured 80.3 percent in her graduation and has participated in a number of academic symposia and workshops,’ said a varsity official.

The university has instituted the scholarship this year in the name of Mukul Kasilwal, chairman of MW Corp. Kasliwal made an initial donation of Rs.5 lakh for the prize, he added.
