Mumbai, Jan 23 (IANS) Action star Akshay Kumar’s latest film “Airlift”, which revolves around the evacuation of Indians from Kuwait during the 1990 Iraq-Kuwait war, earned over Rs.12 crore at the ticket window on its opening day.

Directed by Raja Krishna Menon, the film collected Rs.12.35 crore on Friday, read a statement.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film has received an “impressive” start at the box office and the business might rise towards the weekend.
“#Airlift has an impressive day one. Friday Rs.12.35 crore. India biz. Exceptional word of mouth. Biz should multiply over the weekend,” Adarsh posted on Twitter on Saturday.
The film tells how the Indian government evacuated 1,70,000 people through 488 flights during the Iraq-Kuwait war.
“Airlift” also stars Nimrat Kaur, Feryna Wazheir and Purab Kohli.
