Pune, Sep 27 IANS) Canon India Monday announced a strategic partnership with the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) here to provide a platform to screen a diverse selection of student films in the short fiction, short non-fiction and animation segments.
‘Canon India would present the winners of each category with camcorders as a token of appreciation. The camcorders would not only familiarize the young talent with Canon’s cutting edge technology, but will also help them further gain practical knowledge in the field of film making,’ a company statement said.
The partnership comes as FTII has organised an ‘International Student’s Film Festival’ Sep 24-28 to commemorate its golden jubilee year. The festival is a celebration of the finest short films from film students across the world.
Speaking about the initiative, Alok Bharadwaj, Canon India’s senior vice president, said: ‘Canon is delighted to be a part of the Film and Television Institute of India event, as it showcases young talent and innovation in film making.’
‘By being a part of this event, Canon aims to promote film making through its latest range of sleek, stylish and technologically advanced camcorders. With longer hours of video shooting, Canon camcorders also provide high resolution of videos and still pictures and are a perfect choice for young film making professionals,’ he added.
The Legria HMF 300 that Canon is giving to the three winners is part of its latest mid-range lineup of camcorders in 2010.
‘This camcorder delivers superior high-definition image quality in a compact, lightweight design and offers a host of new features to make capturing and sharing video easier than ever before,’ the statement said.
The HF M300 comes with the proprietary Canon HD video lens that offers up to 15x optical zoom and maxes out at 300x of digital zoom, a dynamic super-range optical image stabilizer for correcting motion and a 3.89-megapixel HD CMOS image sensor equipped with the DIGIC DV III image processor which aids in the reproduction of color tones for both videos and photos.
Canon is also conducting exclusive Legria workshops for over 1,000 participating students’ along with road shows during the FTII festival.
‘The road shows aim at reaching out to a global audience to educate them on technologies of today and uphold Canon products,’ the statement said.
