Mumbai, Dec 18 (Inditop) Neil Nitin Mukesh of “Johnny Gaddar” fame is single and says that he is ready to mingle. He also admits that he has a soft corner for a certain someone.
“I would love to get involved with someone. I too have emotions and get attracted to women,” Neil told IANS in an interview.
Neil, who earned rave reviews for his powerful performance in “Johnny Gaddar”, says he likes someone, but hasn’t expressed his feelings for her.
“I’m waiting for the right time when I will confess to her about my feelings.”
Neil is busy doing one movie after another. He has just wrapped up director Kabir Khan’s “New York” and two of his films – “Tera Kya Hoga Johnny” and “Aa Dekhe Zara” – are also set for release.
Excerpts from the interview:
Q: Most of your contemporaries such as Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor are open about their love lives. So why are you so tightlipped about it?
A: Most of the actors have something to accept. So they have accepted it. In my situation, I have nothing, so what will I accept?
Q: You mean to say that you are not interested in a relationship.
A: No, not like that. Honestly, as far as love is concerned, I will not lie about the fact that I also want to experience love. I also have emotions and I too get attracted to women.
Q: Do you have someone whom you like or wish to propose to?
A: There is a person whom I probably like. I am waiting for the right time to come and then I will confess to her about my feelings.
Q: Is she from the film industry?
A: I would not like to reveal her name at this point of time. For the time being she is just a friend. Let something happen. I can assure you that whenever it happens, you would be the first person to know.
Q: You have completed the shooting schedule for Yash Raj Films’ “New York”… How was it working with Yash Chopra, Aditya Chopra and Kabir Khan?
A: They pampered me and looked after me like their child. At the same time they taught me a lot of things. The whole experience has made me a little more learned.
Q: Were Yash and Aditya Chopra involved in the creative aspect of the film?
A: Yash and Aditya Chopra are the producers of the film and they never interfere in the creative side. When the casting was on, Adi had called me because he thought it would be better if he speaks to me first. Then I had a sitting with Kabir with the script …after that there was no interference from the producers.
I had worked with Yash Raj as an assistant director for Kunal Kohli’s “Mujhse Dosti Karoge”. At that time also there was no interference. They are above all that.
Q: Do you think that big banner movies are mandatory for an actor to shape his career?
A: Tagging people who have been in the industry for a long time as big banners is wrong. It’s like putting pressure on them. They are the people we have learned from. Yash Raj is an institution in itself. They know how to project the film correctly and do justice to it. I’m proud to be associated with them.
Q: Tell us something about your other films.
A: “New York”, which might release in April, will be followed by Sudhir Mishra’s “Tera Kya Hoga Johnny”. Besides that ,”Aa Dekhen Zara” is complete. I have also signed a thriller with Abbas-Mustan and a love story with Ken Ghosh. All my films are expected to release in 2009 and I’m looking forward to that.
Q: Was the first schedule of Madhur Bhandarkar’s “Jail” postponed due to the terror attacks in Mumbai?
A: We were supposed to start the shoot with the same locations like the Gateway (of India) and in and around Taj (Mahal and Tower) and Oberoi (Trident) hotels. So the attack had a deep impact on our minds. Therefore it was decided that we would postpone our shoot. We are starting the first schedule in January and most probably Nana Patekar will play an important role in it.
