New Delhi, June 22 (IANS) Actress Kirron Kher Tuesday said she supported her husband Anupam Kher’s decision to walk out of the film ‘Dear Friend Hitler’ as it involved the ‘sentiments of many people’.
‘As sentiments of many people were at stake and many were getting hurt, that is the reason why he turned down the role. It is a healthy decision according to me. Though in the past Mel Brooks and Charlie Chaplin have also played the role, but then they were just spoofing,’ Kirron told reporters here.
‘It’s Anupam’s decision. He is in Scotland as of now and he decided from there and told me that he is not doing it. I’m completely in support with his decision,’ she said at a press conference to promote the second season of reality show ‘India’s Got Talent’, which she is set to judge on Colors TV channel.
Initially, it was reported that ‘Dear Friend Hitler’ will speak about Hitler’s contribution to India’s independence and what happened to soldiers in Subhash Chandra Bose’s Azad Hind Legion in Germany.
According to the official statement by Amrapali Media Vision that is producing the film, ‘Dear Friend Hitler’ is about the clash of ideologies of the world’s two of the most talked about personalities of the era – Adolf Hitler and Mahatma Gandhi.
Anupam has offered to compensate the producers by doing another project in lieu of ‘Dear Friend Hitler’.
