Mumbai, Feb 24 (IANS) Playback singer Sonu Niigaam’s has put on hold his album, which he was supposed to compose with an American composer, because he wants to be with his mother Shobha who has been diagnosed with cancer.

‘Unfortunately my mother was diagnosed with the fourth stage of cancer in December (last year). I realised that maybe this is god’s wish that I should be in the country and not go to America until my mother is fine. I don’t want to miss out on these days of her ailment,’ Sonu told IANS in an interview.

Though the life threatening disease is in its fourth stage, Sonu is confident that she will recover. ‘Even being in the fourth stage, she is going to recover,’ he said.

Asked how this album came to him, he said: ‘I was in America in 2009 for about seven months. If you are a musician, you attract musicians around you. They are not much aware of Indian music. They googled my name and came to know what I’m capable of.’

Sonu is yet clueless how he is going to contribute in the album.

‘I will do it. It’s a different world altogether. The music is different and the producers are different. I don’t know what I am going to do. I have to wait until my mother gets well,’ he said.

‘It has to be international. I can’t give much details because you know how cynical Americans are. So, I have to ask them before I speak about it,’ he added.
