New Delhi, June 20 (IANS) Once training to be a chemical engineer, Karan Grover came to television due to his love for acting and now the adventurous actor sees himself making a travel show in a few years time.

‘I will definitely be an actor all my life, but in another five-seven years I would love to make something like ‘Highway On My Plate’ or ‘Travel and Living’. I would love to come up with a similar concept and travel around the world, shoot it and put it on TV,’ Karan told IANS.

He made his acting debut with Star Plus’ ‘Saarrthi’, but was noticed as Raj Malik in ‘Meri Awaz Ko Mil Gayi Roshni’. Later he appeared in Sahara One’s ‘Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki’.

The 28-year-old, who is currently working in Zee TV’s daily soap ‘Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli’, says he tried to give himself an image makeover, but it was rejected by the television industry.

‘For six months I was roaming around with my long hair and stubble look, but nobody gave me work. My rugged look was not accepted by the television industry. They asked me to get rid of it. They asked me to sport a clean shaven look for the role,’ said the actor who enjoys his work on small screen for various reasons.

‘I love what I do. The reason why I love doing television is because it gives me the freedom to be emotionally naked. I can work for any number of hours a day and yet be raring to go for another shooting without any complaints.’

Before being bitten by the acting bug, Karan was studying to be a chemical engineer. He also worked with an event management company for a year and was in the top five finalists list for Mr. India 2004 competition. He didn’t win the title, but it got him his first job as a VJ with ZEE music.

Karan says now his biggest aspiration is to be in Hollywood.

‘I really want to do this – I want to go to Hollywood, take a studio apartment, somehow find a connection with filmmakers like Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg and, if possible, just request or beg them to allow me to assist them on their project.

‘I want to be there and learn, imbibe and see because the way they do things it looks as if some super-natural power is making films. It seems at times as if they are not human. I would love to see their conviction when they narrate and when they make it,’ he said.
