New Delhi, Jan 9 (IANS) Health ministers and senior officials of the BRICS will begin a two-day meeting in the Indian capital Thursday, it was announced here Wednesday.

The first day will be confined to the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) health secretaries and senior advisors, while the health ministers would participate on the second day.
This will be the second meeting of BRICS health ministers following the first at Beijing in July, 2011.
The Beijing Declaration emphasised the need for technology transfer as a means to empower developing countries, and the importance of generic medicines in realising the right to health.
The Beijing Declaration also emphasised the fostering of cooperation among BRICS countries to make available and improve medical technology. It was agreed to establish a technical working group to discuss specific proposals.
