Chennai, June 22 (inditop.com) A couple, who arrived in Chennai from the US last week, has tested positive for swine flu and admitted to a hospital here, an official said.

“The couple has been admitted to Communicable Diseases hospital and both are on Tamiflu tablets,” city health officer P.Kugananthan told IANS.

The couple, whose identity has been withheld, came to the city last Thursday.

Kugananthan said of the 13 suspected swine flu patients who have been tested, only two were found to be positive.

“We get the details of passengers who flew in from Mexico, the US, Australia, Canada, Sweden and other countries from the airlines. Health teams visit these passengers and do the necessary health checks to be sure,” he said.

Kugananthan said the Communicable Diseases Hospital has sufficient stock of Tamilflu tablets.

With the two new cases, the total number of swine flu patients in Tamil Nadu has gone up to four.

A women and her five-year-old son who came from the US tested positive for the disease and were admitted to a Coimbatore hospital.

Later, they were discharged after treatment.

Kugananthan said none of the family of five, who came from the US and were quarantined June 13 on suspicion of suffering from the disease, had tested positive.
